What is GentleCure?

GentleCure is a gold standard treatment for nonmelanoma skin cancer. It’s a non-surgical procedure that uses image-guided superficial radiation therapy (SRT), a highly targeted radiation therapy, to treat squamous cell and basal cell carcinoma.

During the first visit to Magnolia Dermatology, your provider discusses your symptoms and medical history and examines your skin. They also take a biopsy to learn if a lesion is cancerous.

After your dermatologist reviews the pathology report and discusses your treatment goals, they work with you to create an effective treatment plan that best suits you.

What can I expect during GentleCure procedures?

During GentleCure treatment at Magnolia Dermatology, you’ll sit in a comfortable chair while your dermatologist applies ultrasound gel to cancer-containing areas of your skin. 

They use a specialized wand to create detailed images of cancerous tissues and use the images to measure the size and shape of a lesion. They determine a precise treatment dose needed to eliminate the cancer.

Then, your dermatologist places part of the device over the treatment area and uses low-dose X-ray energy to eliminate cancer without harming healthy surrounding tissues.

Each treatment session may last about 15 minutes. You will return to the office several times weekly to complete the short treatments, and there’s no downtime afterward.
